I) Warm-up

α. ἡ ὥρα ἔρχεται (he/she/it comes).

--- The hour comes.

β. ἀγαπῶσι (they love) δὲ τὸν θεόν.

--- But they love the God.

γ. ἔσωσεν (he/she/it saved) αὐτὸς ἄλλους.

--- He saved others.

δ. βλέπω (I see) νῦν τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ τοὺς ἀποστόλους.

--- Now I see the Jesus and the apostles.

ε. ἡ ἀγαπὴ μακροθυμεῖ (he/she/it is patient).

--- The love is patient.

ζ. ἐγὼ γινώσκω (I know) ὅτι τὸ ἔργον τετέλεσται (he/she/it is finished).

--- I myself know that the work is finished.

η. ἐποίησε (he/she/it made) ὁ λόγος τὸν κόσμον.

II) Translation

1. ἀποστέλλω (I send) τὸν ἄγγελον.

--- I send the messenger.

2. αὐτοὶ τὸν θεὸν ὄψονται (they will see).

--- They will see the God.

3. ἐδίδασκεν (he/she/it was teaching) αὐτούς.

--- He/She was teaching them.

4. Διώκετε (Pursue!) τὴν ἀγάπην.

--- Pursue! the love.

5. ἐραυνᾶτε (You search) τὰς γραφάς.

--- You search the writings.

6. πεπλήρωται (he/she/it has come) ὁ καιρὸς καὶ ἤγγικεν (he/she/it has drawn near) ἡ βασιλεία.

--- The time has come and the kingdom has drawn near.

7. ἐτέλεσεν (he/she/it finished) ὁ Χριστός τοὺς λόγους.

--- The Christ finished the words.

8. τὸ σάββατον διὰ (for) τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐγένετο (he/she/it was made) καὶ οὐχ ὁ ἄνθρωπος διὰ τὸ σάββατον.

--- The sabbath was made for the man and not the man (was made for) the sabbath.

9. καὶ ἀπέστειλεν (he/she/it sent) αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν (to preach) τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ.

--- And he/she sent them to preach the kingdom of the God.

10. καὶ νῦν ἡ βασιλεία σου (your) οὐ στήσεται (he/she/it will continue).

--- And now your kingdom (the kingdom of yours) will not continue.

11. ὁ δὲ Παῦλος ἔφη (he/she/it said)· ἔπεμψα (I sent) ἄλλους ἀποστόλους.

--- But the Paul said: “I sent other apostles.”

12. τὸν Χριστὸν πιστεύουσιν (they believe) οἱ ἄνθρωποι ὅτι γινώσκουσι (they know) τὴν ἀγάπην αὐτοῦ (his).

--- The men believe the Christ because they know his love (the love of his).

13. Λαμὲχ δέ εἰπεν τοὺς λόγους.

--- But Lamek said these words.

14. καὶ ἤρεσαν (they pleased) οἱ λόγοι τὸν Πιλᾶτον.

--- And the words pleased Pilate.

15. τὰ σάββατα φυλάξεσθε (you will keep).

--- You will keep the sabbath.

16. τὰ ἔργα τοῦ θεοῦ αὐτοὶ πιστεύουσι (they believe).

--- They themselves believe the works of the God.

17. κύριον καὶ χριστὸν ἐποίησεν (he/she/it made) ὁ θεός αὐτόν.

--- The God made him Lord and Christ.

18. τὸ φῶς ἐλήλυθεν (he/she/it came) εἰς τὸν κόσμον καὶ ἠγάπησαν (they loved) οἱ ἄνθρωποι μᾶλλον τὸ σκότος ἢ τὸ φῶς.

--- The light came into the world and the men loved the darkness more than the light.

19. καὶ ἐκρίνοσαν (they judged) τὸν λαὸν πᾶσαν (every) ὥραν.

--- And they judged the people every hour.

20. καὶ αὐτοὶ ἦραν (they lifted up) τὰς φωνάς αὐτῶν (their).

--- And they themselves lifted up their voices (the voices of theirs).
