I) Warm-up
α. ἐκεῖνος κρινεῖ αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.--- That one will judge him in the last day.
β. πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐλεύσονται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου.
--- For many will come on the basis of my name.
γ. ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου δαιμόνια ἐκβαλοῦσιν.
--- In/by my name they will cast out demons.
δ. γνωσόμεθα τὴν ἀλήθειαν.
--- We will know the truth.
ε. ἐρῶ τῇ ψυχῇ μου.
--- I will speak to my soul/
ζ. αὐτὸς μένει ἐπὶ τὸν κόσμον ἀλλὰ συ μενεῖς εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας.
--- He himself remains on the world but you yourself will remain forever (into the ages).
η. πῶς πάσας τὰς παραβολὰς γνώσεσθε;
--- How will you(pl.) know all the parables?
II) Translation
1. ἐγὼ ἐβάπτισα (I baptized) ὑμᾶς ὕδατι, αὐτὸς δὲ βαπτίσει ὑμᾶς ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ.--- I myself baptized you(pl.) with water, but he himself will baptize you in holy spirit.
2. ἀποστελεῖ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοὺς ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ.
--- The son of the man will send his angels.
3. ἐκεῖ αὐτὸν ὄψεσθε, καθὼς εἶπεν ὑμῖν.
--- There you(pl.) will see him, just as he said to you.
4. ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· ἐάν τις ἀγαπᾷ με τὸν λόγον μου τηρήσει καὶ ὁ πατήρ μου ἀγαπήσει αὐτὸν καὶ πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐλευσόμεθα.
--- Jesus answered and said to him: "If someone loves me, he will keep my word and my father will love him and to him we will come."
5. τέξεται (he/she/it will bear) δὲ υἱόν, καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰησοῦν. αὐτὸς γὰρ σώσει τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν.
--- But she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. For he himself will save his people from their sins.
6. ἢ οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι οἱ ἅγιοι τὸν κόσμον κρινοῦσιν; … οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ἀγγέλους κρινοῦμεν;
--- Or don't you know that the saints will judge the world ? ... Don't you know that we will judge angels?
7. πάντες πιστεύσουσιν εἰς αὐτόν, καὶ ἐλεύσονται οἱ Ῥωμαῖοι καὶ ἀροῦσιν τὸν τόπον ἡμῶν.
--- All believe into him, and the Romans will come and take our place.
8. Ἀλλὰ ἐρεῖ τις· πῶς ἐγείρονται οἱ νεκροί; ποίῳ (in what sort of) δὲ σώματι ἔρχονται;
--- But someone will say: "How are the dead ones raised? And/but In what sort of body they come?"
9. λέγει αὐτῷ· ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου κρινῶ σε, πονηρὲ δοῦλε.
--- He says to him: "out of your mouth I will judge you, evil servant!"
10. διὰ τοῦτο καὶ ἡ σοφία τοῦ θεοῦ εἶπεν· ἀποστελῶ εἰς αὐτοὺς προφήτας καὶ ἀποστόλους, καὶ ἐξ αὐτῶν ἀποκτενοῦσιν.
--- Because of this the wisdom of the God also said: "I will send into them prophets and apostles, and out of them they will kill."
III) Additional
11. τί οἱ κακοὶ ἀποκτείνουσιν τοὺς ἀγαθούς, οἳ τηροῦσιν τὸν νόμον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἀγαπῶσι πάντας;
--- Why the evil ones kill the good ones, who keep the law of the God and love all (people) ?
12. ἐν τῷ στόματί μου μεγαλὴν σοφίαν λαλήσω καὶ κατὰ τὴν ὅλην ζωὴν ἐρῶ περὶ τῆς δικαιοσύνης τε καὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ τῆς ἀληθείας.
--- In my mouth I will speak great wisdom and during the whole life I will say concerning the righteousness and also the road of the truth.
13. καὶ καλέσεις τὰ σάββατα ἅγια τῷ θεῷ σου καὶ οὐκ ἀρεῖς τὸν πόδα σου ἐπ᾽ ἔργῳ οὐδὲ λαλήσεις λόγον ἐν ὀργῇ(anger) ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου.
--- And you shall call the sabbaths holy to your God and you shall neither take your foot on a work nor shall say a word in anger out of your mouth.
14. ὁ θεός ἐστιν κύριος, καὶ αὐτὸς οἶδεν, καὶ Ἰσραὴλ αὐτὸς γνώσεται.
--- The God is Lord, and he himself knows, and Israel itself will know.
15. τὸ ὕδωρ αὐτοῦ πιστόν· βασιλέα μετὰ δόξης ὄψεσθε, καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ ὑμῶν μελετήσει(cultivate) φόβον(fear) κυρίου.
--- His water is faithful; you will see a king with glory, and your soul will cultivate a fear of (the) Lord.
16. καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῆς ἀποκτενῶ ἐν θανάτῳ. καὶ γνώσονται πᾶσαι αἱ ἐκκλησίαι ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἐραυνῶν (one who searches) νεφροὺς καὶ καρδίας, καὶ δώσω (I will give) ὑμῖν ἑκάστῳ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα ὑμῶν.
--- And I will kill her children in death. And all the assemblies will know that I my self am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to you each one according to your works.
17. Μὴ μόνον οὖν αὐτὸν καλῶμεν (let us call) κύριον, οὐ γὰρ τοῦτο σώσει ἡμᾶς.
--- Therefore let us not only call him Lord, for this will not save us.
18. μακάριοι οἱ καθαροὶ τῇ καρδίᾳ, ὅτι αὐτοὶ τὸν θεὸν ὄψονται.
--- The clean ones in heart (are) blessed, because they themselves will see the God.
19. Ἀλλ᾽ ἐρεῖ τις· σὺ πίστιν ἔχεις, κἀγὼ ἔργα ἔχω. δεῖξόν (Show!) μοι τὴν πίστιν σου χωρὶς τῶν ἔργων, κἀγώ σοι δείξω (I will show) ἐκ τῶν ἔργων μου τὴν πίστιν. σὺ πιστεύεις ὅτι εἷς ἐστιν ὁ θεός, καλῶς ποιεῖς. καὶ τὰ δαιμόνια πιστεύουσιν καὶ φρίσσουσιν(tremble).
--- But someone will say: "You have faith, and I myself have works. Show! to me your faith without works, and I myself will show to you from my works the faith. You yourself believe that the God is one, you do well. And the demons believe and they tremble."
20. ἐὰν τὰς ἐντολάς μου τηρήσητε (you keep), μενεῖτε ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ μου, καθὼς ἐγὼ τὰς ἐντολὰς τοῦ πατρός μου τετήρηκα (I have kept) καὶ μένω αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ.
--- If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept the commandments of my father and I remain in his love.
