Chapter 23 習題解答

I) Warm-up


α. πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ.
--- Many (men) believed into his name.


β. ἔγραψεν ὑμῖν τὴν ἐντολὴν ταύτην.
--- He wrote to you(pl.) this commandment.


γ. καὶ εὐθὺς ἐκάλεσεν αὐτούς.
--- And immediately he called them.

 

δ. ἐκήρυξαν … καὶ δαιμόνια πολλὰ ἐξέβαλλον.
--- They proclaimed ... and they were casting out many demons.


ε. ἤγειρεν αὐτήν.
--- He raised her.


ζ. ὁ δὲ … ἀπεκρίνατο οὐδέν.
--- But the one answered nothing.


η. ἦλθεν οὖν καὶ ἦρεν τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ.
--- Therefore he came and he took his body.

II) Translation


1. ἐπίστευσα, διὸ ἐλάλησα, καὶ ἡμεῖς πιστεύομεν, διὸ καὶ λαλοῦμεν.
--- I believed, therefore I spoke, and we ourselves are believing, therefore also we are speaking.

2. ἐγὼ ἐβάπτισα ὑμᾶς ὕδατι, αὐτὸς δὲ βαπτίσει ὑμᾶς ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ.
--- I baptized you(pl.) in water, but he himself will baptize you(pl.) in holy spirit.

3. καθὼς ἐμὲ ἀπέστειλας εἰς τὸν κόσμον, κἀγὼ ἀπέστειλα αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν κόσμον.
--- Just as you(sg.) yourself sent me into the world, I also myself sent them into the world.

4. Ἤκουσεν Ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἐξέβαλον αὐτὸν ἔξω καὶ εὑρὼν (after finding) αὐτὸν εἶπεν· σὺ πιστεύεις εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου;
--- Jesus heard that they cast him outside and after finding him he said: "Are you yourself believing into the son of the man?"

5. λέγει αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἦραν τὸν κύριόν μου, καὶ οὐκ οἶδα ποῦ (where) ἔθηκαν (they laid) αὐτόν.
--- He/she is saying to them that they took my Lord, and I do not know where they laid him.

6. καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν (to preach) ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς.
--- And he departed and he began to preach in the Decapolis how much the Jesus did for him.

7. λέγει αὐτοῖς· ἔρχεσθε (come!) καὶ ὄψεσθε. ἦλθαν οὖν καὶ εἶδαν ποῦ (where) μένει καὶ παρ᾽ αὐτῷ ἔμειναν τὴν ἡμέραν ἐκείνην.
--- He is saying to them: "Come! and you will see." Then they came and they saw where he is staying and with him they stayed that day.
 

8. Ταῦτα ἔγραψα ὑμῖν ἳνα εἰδῆτε (you might know) ὅτι ζωὴν ἔχετε αἰώνιον, τοῖς πιστεύουσιν (those who believe) εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ.
--- I wrote these things to you in order that you might know that you are having eternal life, to those who believe into the name of the son of the God.
 

9. Καὶ συνάγονται οἱ ἀπόστολοι πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν3 αὐτῷ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησαν καὶ ὅσα ἐδίδαξαν.
--- And the disciples were gathered together to the Jesus and they reported to him all things whichever they did and whichever they taught.
 

10. πολλοὶ ἐροῦσίν μοι ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ· κύριε κύριε, οὐ τῷ σῷ4 ὀνόματι ἐπροφητεύσαμεν,5 καὶ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι δαιμόνια ἐξεβάλομεν, καὶ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι δυνάμεις πολλὰς ἐποιήσαμεν; καὶ τότε ὁμολογήσω (I will say) αὐτοῖς ὅτι οὐδέποτε (never) ἔγνων ὑμᾶς.
--- Many people will say to me in that day: "Lord! Lord!, did not we prophesy by your name, and by your name we cast out demons, and by your name we did many miracles?" And then I will say to them that never did I know you.

11. οἱ πονηροὶ ἑπτὰ ἀνδρὰς καὶ μίαν γυναῖκα ἀπέκτειναν, ὁ δὲ λαὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ ἔμενεν ὅτι ἐκεῖ ἤκουσαν τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς ζωῆς.
--- The evil ones killed seven men and one woman, but the people of the God remained in the church because there they heard the gospel of the life.


12. ὁ γὰρ Πέτρος ἔγραψε τοῖς ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ ὅτι δυνάμεις πολλὰς καὶ μεγάλας ποιεῖ ἐν τῷ ἁγίῳ πνεύματι· δόξα τῷ θεῷ.
--- For the Peter wrote to the ones in Jerusalem that he is doing many and great miracles by the holy spirit: "Glory to the God."


13. καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτὸν ἕνα τῶν φίλων6 αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐδόξασεν αὐτὸν δόξῃ μεγάλῃ.
--- And he made him one of his friends and he glorified him with great glory.


14. καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσατε τῆς φωνῆς κυρίου ἧς7 ἀπέστειλέν με πρὸς ὑμᾶς.
--- And you(pl.) did not hear the voice of Lord by which he sent me to you(pl.)


15. καὶ ἔγραψεν Μωϋῆς τὴν ᾠδὴν8 ταύτην ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ καὶ ἐδίδαξεν αὐτὴν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραήλ.
--- And Moses wrote this song in that day and he taught it to the sons of Israel.


16. καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτῷ τὸν λόγον τοῦ κυρίου σὺν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ.
--- And they said to him the word of the Lord with all the ones in his house.


17. ἄλλους ἔσωσεν, ἑαυτὸν οὐ δύναται σῶσαι (to save).
--- He saved others, but he is not able to save himself.


18. πάντες γὰρ αὐτὸν εἶδον καὶ ἐταράχθησαν (they were troubled). ὁ δὲ εὐθὺς ἐλάλησεν μετ᾽ αὐτῶν.
--- For all people saw him and they were troubled. But the one (he) immediately spoke with them.


19. πάτερ δίκαιε, καὶ ὁ κόσμος σε οὐκ ἔγνω, ἐγὼ δέ σε ἔγνων, καὶ οὗτοι ἔγνωσαν ὅτι σύ με ἀπέστειλας.
--- Righteous Father!, and the world did not know you, but I myself knew you, and these men knew that you yourself sent me.


20. νῦν δὲ ζητεῖτέ με ἀποκτεῖναι (to kill) ἄνθρωπον ὃς τὴν ἀλήθειαν ὑμῖν λελάληκα (I have spoken) ἣν ἤκουσα παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ· τοῦτο Ἀβραὰμ οὐκ ἐποίησεν. ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε τὰ ἔργα τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν. εἶπαν [οὖν] αὐτῷ· ἡμεῖς ἐκ πορνείας οὐ γεγεννήμεθα (we have been born)· ἕνα πατέρα ἔχομεν τὸν θεόν. εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· εἰ ὁ θεὸς πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἦν ἠγαπᾶτε ἂν9 ἐμέ, ἐγὼ γὰρ ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐξῆλθον.
--- But now you are seeking to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth which I heard from the God; Abraham did not do this thing. You yourselves are doing the works of your father. Then they said to him: "We ourselves have not been born from fornication; we are having one father, the God." The Jesus said to them: "If the God was your father you would loved me, for I myself came out from the God."
